Storage Goddington Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Storage Goddington to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect and uphold fundamental human rights and to act with integrity in all our business relationships.
Storage Goddington is committed to conducting business in a lawful and ethical manner. This includes opposing all forms of modern slavery and working proactively with employees, suppliers and other stakeholders to identify, prevent and address risks wherever they may arise.
Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Goddington has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not accept any form of forced, bonded or involuntary labour, child labour that is not legally permitted, or exploitation of vulnerable individuals in any part of our operations or supply chain.
All staff, contractors and suppliers are expected to uphold this policy. Any breach is considered a serious disciplinary and contractual matter and may result in termination of employment or business relationships, as well as notification to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Operations and Supply Chains
Storage Goddington provides storage and related services. While we assess our direct operational risk as relatively low, we acknowledge that some goods, equipment, and services we procure may originate from higher-risk sectors or regions. We therefore work to understand the origin of key products and services and the labour conditions under which they are produced or delivered.
We seek to engage with reputable suppliers who can demonstrate responsible employment practices and a commitment to eradicating modern slavery within their own operations and supply chains.
Supplier Standards and Audits
Storage Goddington expects all suppliers to comply with applicable labour, employment and human rights laws and to align with our zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery. We communicate these expectations through contractual terms, supplier onboarding processes and ongoing engagement.
We carry out proportionate due diligence on existing and potential suppliers, focusing in particular on those operating in sectors or locations where modern slavery risks may be higher. This may include requesting information on policies, practices, workforce conditions, and any previous incidents or complaints related to labour exploitation.
Where appropriate, we conduct supplier audits or request evidence of independent audits to verify compliance with our standards. If concerns are identified, we work collaboratively with the supplier to address them through corrective action plans and, if necessary, increased monitoring. Persistent non-compliance or refusal to remediate will lead to a review of the business relationship and may result in termination.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Goddington encourages employees, contractors, suppliers and any other stakeholders to raise concerns in good faith about suspected modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business. Reports can be made to management or via established internal reporting channels, and may be raised anonymously where permitted by local law.
We do not tolerate retaliation against any person who reports a concern or participates in an investigation. All reports are taken seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated promptly. Where allegations are substantiated, we will take appropriate corrective and remedial actions, which may include reporting matters to law enforcement or regulatory bodies.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our people, particularly those involved in procurement, facilities management, and supplier relationships. Training and guidance are provided to help employees recognise potential indicators of exploitation and understand how to escalate concerns.
Through ongoing communication, we reinforce our expectations of ethical conduct and support a culture in which everyone feels responsible for helping to identify and prevent modern slavery.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with the senior management of Storage Goddington. They review identified risks, responses, and any incidents, and ensure that modern slavery considerations are integrated into relevant policies, procedures and business decisions.
This statement and our underlying controls are reviewed at least annually, and more frequently if required by changes in law, business activities or risk profile. As part of this review, we assess the effectiveness of our actions, consider feedback from stakeholders, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in our prevention and mitigation efforts.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the management of Storage Goddington and represents our ongoing commitment to operate with integrity, respect human rights and work towards the eradication of modern slavery in all its forms.
